Stigall Principal Named to Tennessee Rural Principals Network

PRESS RELEASE FROM HUMBOLDT CITY SCHOOLS:

HUMBOLDT, Tenn. — Dr. Tiffany Purnell, principal of Stigall Primary School in Humboldt, has been named to the 2024-2025 Tennessee Rural Principals Network as announced by the Tennessee Department of Education on Wednesday, September 25, 2024.

In partnership with Belmont University, 57 school leaders were selected to the 2024/2025 cohort of the Tennessee Rural Principals Network (TRPN), which is a comprehensive approach to improve the preparation, retention, and development of principals in rural communities across Tennessee.

The network was launched in 2018 to give rural principals an opportunity to learn and grow together through in-person and online learning sessions, focusing on leadership coaching and job-embedded activities. Over the next three years, this cohort will explore the unique challenges and opportunities in rural school leadership, learn strategies to ensure high quality instruction and the recruitment, retention, and support of rural educators, build relationships among other rural district leaders, and access effective resources in the rural context.

Dr. Purnell stated, “We had our first meeting last Thursday (9/19), and during the meeting I had the opportunity to network and collaborate with principals from rural districts across the state. Through this process, I along with the other 56 rural principals will work with one another and a coach to gain insight on how we can better serve our schools and communities. Stigall Primary sets the educational foundation for students in Humboldt. I know this program will help me to become an even stronger  instructional leader. With the help of Stigall’s amazing educators, together we can build an even stronger educational foundation for the students at Stigall.”
