Elk’s Lodge #192 hosts breast cancer fundraiser
JACKSON, Tenn.—One local organization hosts an event that offers food, fun and fundraising for a great cause.
The Elk’s Lodge #192 hosted its Save a Rack fundraiser Saturday in Jackson.
The Hunt for Pick October Cornhole Tournament kicked off in the morning at the lodge located at 28 Executive Drive.
Registration began at 11am with bags flying at noon. Prizes were awarded to the winners with proceeds from the event going towards helping West TN women who are battling breast cancer.
The day also included a BBQ cookoff with contestants entering in either the smoked ribs, wings, bologna or combination categories. Registration fees were $50 per category and those proceeds also go towards the cause.
“Right now we have about forty ladies in our breast cancer support group that are actively going through breast cancer. So they right now are our warriors and the rest of us are our winners. So that’s what we like to celebrate on a daily basis because breast cancer affects one and eight women every single day and it’s affecting younger and younger women,” said Dawn Phipps, Committee Chair for Pink Off for Breast Cancer.
There was also live music at the event and guests were encouraged to dress in pink to show support for the cause.
