Jackson-Madison County Schools recognizes students with exceptional ACT scores
JACKSON, Tenn. — Jackson-Madison County Schools hosted a luncheon to recognize students who earned exceptional scores on the ACT.
The district requires high school students to participate in ACT testing. District leaders hosted the event with prizes and remarks to recognize students who’ve earned exceptional scores.
This year, qualifying students gathered at the DoubleTree Hotel for lunch and went home with a new laptop as a gift. Students who scored 30 or higher also received an additional gift as an incentive to encourage academic achievement.
“We’re celebrating those students who score 30 or higher on the ACT, so to give you a little context, the state average on the ACT is about 19.6, 19.4, well these students have knocked it out of the park, scoring 30 or higher, and we’re just excited to celebrate these students today,” said Greg Hammond, chief of public information for JMCSS.
Last year the luncheon had 33 students. This year they had 41 students to celebrate.
