U.S. Army Field Band Jazz Ambassadors Free Concert

For the first time in five years, the Jazz Ambassadors official touring big band of the United States Army will return to present a free public performance at 7 p.m. Oct. 18 at the Krider Performing Arts Center. The Jazz Ambassadors performed in Paris in 2009, 2002, 1999 and 1994. The concert is sponsored jointly by The Post-Intelligencer and KPAC. Formed in 1969, this 19-member ensemble has received great acclaim at home and abroad performing America‘s greatest original art form, jazz. Concerts by the Jazz Ambassadors are programmed to entertain all types of audiences. The band‘s diverse repertoire includes big band swing, bebop, Latin, contemporary jazz, standards, popular tunes, Dixieland, vocals, and patriotic selections, many of which are written or arranged by members of the Jazz Ambassadors. Free tickets are now available at The P-I office at 208 E. Wood St., 8 a.m.-5 p.m. Mondays-Fridays. There is a limit of four tickets per person. Doors will open at 6 p.m. and audience members need to be seated by 6:45 p.m.. At 6:50 p.m., anyone with or without a ticket will be admitted.
