Officials from West Tennessee and the Mid-South are investigating what they believe to be a homicide after finding a body in West Madison County, Friday afternoon. The Memphis Police Department, Jackson Police Department, Madison County Sheriff’s Department along with other law enforcement agencies spent Friday trying to piece together an explanation of how a car set on fire in a midtown Jackson neighborhood Thursday and a body found in Madison County Friday are linked. Some residents spent Friday worried about the state of their neighborhood. Terrance Fuller has lived in midtown with his four kids and wife for nearly four years. He said his neighborhood at one time was good, but things have started to change. “This used to be a really quiet neighborhood and now we got this going on,” said Fuller. A theme of safety rang out as 7 Eyewitness News talked to residents concerned about the safety of their neighborhood after a car was set on fire Thursday evening around 7. Officials believe the car registered to a Shelby County man could be linked to a homicide investigation in Memphis. “I saw a car that was engulfed…I mean flames about eight or nine feet high,” said Fuller. Little did residents know, the same car set ablaze in their neighborhood would connect to an homicide investigation just a few counties away. “At around 2:30 (Friday) afternoon, a body was discovered here in Madison County. And we are assisting Memphis Police Department’s Homicide Division,” said Madison County Sheriff David Woolfork. The scene was chaotic Friday afternoon, as officials recovered the body of a badly burned individual on Most Road, a secluded area and dead end road that intersects with U.S. Highway 70 near Huntersville.
