Santiago Charged in Jones’ Murder

There is a new development in the search for Demetreous Santiago, who is now a wanted man in the murder of a former police officer. The 28-year-old, already suspected of setting the car of a former Memphis police officer on fire in Jackson, is now officially a wanted man in his murder. Wednesday, Memphis police issued a warrant for Santiago’s arrest. He is wanted for first degree murder and especially aggravated robbery in the death of Charles Jones. Investigators believe Santiago and Michael Dean, 24, with the help of Ashley Carver shot and killed and then robbed Jones in Memphis. Santiago and Dean are then believed to have driven Jones’ Lexus to Jackson with him in the trunk, where they dumped the body in West Madison County and set it on fire, then burned his car in midtown Jackson. Dean and Carver have been arrested, but Santiago remains on the loose.
